Abstract

Academic libraries have a strategic role in supporting the learning process, research, and community service. Procurement of book and non-book collections is one of the key elements in providing relevant and up-to-date information resources for academics. This study aims to analyze the collection procurement system in two domestic universities, namely the University of Indonesia (UI) and Gadjah Mada University (UGM), as well as two foreign universities, namely Harvard University and the National University of Singapore (NUS). This study compares policies, mechanisms, and challenges in collection procurement in the four universities. Procurement of book and non-book collections is an integral part in supporting academic activities in higher education. This article discusses the collection procurement system in two domestic and two foreign universities, highlighting the policies, procedures, challenges, and strategies used. The research method used is a literature study and analysis of collection procurement policies in the four universities. The results of the study indicate that differences in procurement systems are influenced by regulations, budgets, and academic needs
