THE ROLE OF ENVIRONMENTAL LAW IN STUNTING PREVENTION AND THE IMPORTANCE OF SANITATION
Keywords:

This study aims to analyze the role of environmental law in efforts to prevent stunting in children, by highlighting the relationship between sanitation, access to clean water, and environmental regulations on the prevalence of stunting. The method used is normative literature research, where legal norms, laws and regulations, and various scientific literature are reviewed to understand their relevance in addressing the problem of stunting. This study found that poor sanitation and lack of access to clean water contribute significantly to the incidence of stunting, with children living in unhealthy environments at higher risk of experiencing growth disorders. Strong environmental regulations can be an effective instrument in encouraging improved sanitation infrastructure, better waste management, and clean and healthy living practices through programs such as Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM). The results of this study confirm that the implementation of stricter environmental laws, including sanctions for environmental pollution violations and incentives for good sanitation management, can be a strategic step in reducing stunting rates. Thus, the role of environmental law is crucial in building a sustainable sanitation system and ensuring the health of children as a better future generation.
